The Science of Color Sorting
Humans perceive color gradients intuitively. Our visual cortex is wired to detect smooth color transitions it's why gradients look 'right' and abrupt color changes feel jarring. This game taps into that innate sense, challenging you to reconstruct what your brain knows should exist.
The puzzle uses HSL color space (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) to generate mathematically smooth gradients. Each level shifts hue by 60° across the grid while keeping saturation and lightness consistent. Radial gradients are particularly challenging because distance from center determines color, requiring spatial reasoning.
Pro tip: Start from the corners they're anchor points with the most extreme colors. Then work the edges before filling the center. The 'hint' button highlights tiles that need to move, but using it won't affect your score. Optimal solutions typically require about half as many moves as there are tiles.
