The Psychology of Lava Avoidance
This game exploits your threat detection instincts. Red is universally associated with danger, and your brain's amygdala fires when you see expanding red zones approaching your 'self' (the cursor). The result: genuine tension from a simple browser game.
The increasing lava percentage creates urgency. Unlike static mazes, the challenge escalates dynamically. Early game is about learning patterns; late game is about finding any remaining safe pixel. The lava percentage indicator lets you know exactly how doomed you are.
Pro tip: Move smoothly, not frantically. Jerky movements are harder to control and more likely to hit unexpected lava. The cursor has no hitbox size only the exact point matters. On mobile, keep your finger moving continuously; lifting ends the game.
